But we had to look at a dead tree and a junky seasonal site on the other side. Our site #13 was at the back and our door faced a field and had a tree. Try to get a spot at the back of the property, it is a bit quieter there. We never did see the park owners during the 48 hours we were there.Īccess to the campground is pretty good, it's right off I-69. I had to look up my confirmation email to see what site we were on. There was not an arrival packet waiting for us. I called the phone number on the door and got a recording. The fee of $40 per night is way overpriced for this place. I made the reservations over the phone to arrive on a Saturday. 90% of the sites are occupied by permanent residents, some sites were neat, some were junky.
Their website may list amenities, but don't believe them. They are just collecting the campground fees and not keeping up the property. But obviously the current owners don't care. This was probably a nice campground once upon a time. We stayed here only because we have friends in the area AND the other campground in the vicinity got worse reviews. Next to it are the remains of an outdoor kitchen. There is also a pavilion I guess you would call it but looks like its used for storage. Combine with the random piles of wood or rocks in various locations around the property and it gives a shabby appearance. There are quite a few trailers that appear abandoned toward the back. Trash was at the entrance to the park and was an eyesore. There was a good deal of highway noise all the time. The section we stayed must have been for long term workers and was close to the freeway. Laundry facilities also look tired and in need of updating. The showers and bathroom were old but adequate. Our site was level and long enough for the trailer and truck but the grass was 6-8 tall on the site. In the two days we stayed we saw no employees. Tired campground in need of routine maintenance. The owner cannot control a wondering dog, but just an fyi if you see poo on the pad you know why. This was one of the only CG in the area that would accommodate our size of rig that had space and It seemed there was a change of ownership so decided to give it a chance.
I don't want this review to sound too negative because overall it worked for our needs, which was a place to sleep close to the water and McCall (30 min). It was pretty easy to back into the spot but you need to be as close to the hookups as possible to be as level as possible. Once it was moved we saw a few piles of dog poo, which we later found out there is a dog that just wanders around the area and visits the campsite to use the bathroom.a couple times a day. When we first arrived there was a vehicle parked on the pad and it took a while to find owner of it to have it moved. There is power hookup but our surge protector said it was reverse polarity so we didn't use it. We were at the end of our Anderson levelers after relocating 3 times to find the most level spot on the pad. The pad had a good slope to it, side to side, so make sure you have enough blocks. It was very quiet at night, no noise from neighbors, there are cabins and other RV's in the area. The location was good, it was easy access to all area activities. The water is safe for bathing, washing, etc. So, until we put in a filtration system, we suggest you bring drinking water. The well for the property is new and we have found the well water has a metallic taste. You can ride off road vehicles straight from the campsite to the mountain trails. Tamarack Resort is just four miles away and several more public access beaches are just a short drive away. Mountain Meadows Adventure Rental is next door - they rent paddleboards, kayaks, motorboats, jet skis, ATV's, etc. Public access to Lake Cascade right at the campsite via Tamarack Falls Fishing Bridge Park.
There is plenty of maneuver space to get even a large motorhome in and out. The lot is partially wooded and even has it's own pond and streams. The site is a single RV pad nestled in among some small cabins - you won't be crowded by another RV right next to you. There is a large fire pit on the site made from boulders - great for fireside get togethers. RV campsite at Tamarack Falls Campground - Lake Cascade and Tamarack Falls Fishing Bridge Park are a short walk away.
